Brackley Bay Oyster Company
Brackley Bay Oyster Company is the proud caretaker of one of the oldest surveyed leases in PEI, originally owned by Lorne and Edith MacMillan.Lorne MacMillan was born in 1904 and Edith Cameron was born in 1908. They married approximately in 1925 and spent their life on their farm in MacMillan Point. Lorne and Edith were beloved in their community. Lorne was an inventor, farmer, builder and of course, oyster grower. He was a very skilled mechanic and found a home grown solution for every problem he encountered.
Edith was a teacher at the West Covehead schoolhouse, and active partner on the farm and oyster operation. She was also very skilled in the kitchen, her pickles and preserves were very well-known!
